Minnie Mae (Dutton) Weatherford went to be with the Lord on June 10, 2021, in Calera, Okla., with her family by her side, at the age of 88.

Funeral services for Minnie Weatherford were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 14, 2021 in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel in Hugo. Pastor Kyle Cummings officiated with burial following at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo.

Minnie Mae was born Oct. 23, 1932 in Bailey, Okla., the daughter of Oscar Johnny Dutton and Eliza Marie (Huddleston) Dutton. Minnie married Jimmie Darrel Weatherford on July 15, 1948, in Lorenzo, Texas. Minnie was a hard worker and very involved in the family business, from farming and ranching in New Mexico, where she had a commercial driver’s license and operated grain trucks regularly on the farm and during commercial harvest spanning several states, to doing irrigation systems, milking a small dairy herd, and on to ranching and real estate in Oklahoma. She operated a beauty shop in her home for several years afterwards, continuing to be a beautician in three nursing homes until her retirement as a beautician in 2007. She went on to open and operate, Minnie’s Designs (a dress shop and flower shop).

Minnie was very active in the community, being a member of Unity Baptist Church where she served on the Board of Directors for several years, and later attending Oak Grove Baptist Church. In addition, she was a member of the Red Hat’s Club, Quilting Club, Garden Club, Craft Club and Ladies Auxiliary.

Minnie cherished family and friends and enjoyed hosting large Sunday afternoon gatherings for many years. She loved any work outdoors, especially involving landscaping. She loved to decorate, whether it be store fronts, homes or church. She especially liked decorating for Christmas.

Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Wanda June Dutton; one grandson, Timothe Wayne Weatherford, and one granddaughter, Danielle Weatherford.

Minnie is survived by sons: Gerald Weatherford and wife, Brenda of Calera, Okla., Dale Weatherford of Campbell, Texas; brother, Donald Ray Dutton of Clovis, N.M.; sister, Joy Marie Safranek of Gloucester, Va.; grandchildren: Kristinia Hicks and husband, David, Chad Weatherford and wife, Stacia, Shelly Wall and husband, Brandon, Amanda Bazor and husband, Josh, Dana Weatherford, and Darrel Weatherford; great-grandchildren: Summer Fischer and Zach Couch, Zane Weatherford and wife, Randi, Taylor Weatherford, Kalyn Bacon, Reaghan Weatherford, Baylee Weatherford, Kadence Bazor, Brody Bazor, Hunter Wall, Pate Wall, Demi Weatherford, Kaylee Weatherford, Brooklyn Starr, Kendell Hicks, Tae Blanks and husband, Braden; six great-great-grandchildren.
