Richard Gibbs Church

Private services will be held at a later date for Richard Gibbs Church, of Sawyer, Okla. He passed away July 18, 2021 in Hugo, Okla., at the age of 81.

Richard Gibbs Church was born on Jan. 24, 1940, in Denver, Colo., to Gibbs Leroy Church and Codelia Burnice (Tyra) Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters: Kathy Vincent and Robin Johnson; siblings: Ralph Church and Lawanda Church; step father, Jimmy Hutton and step mother, Ruth Hutton.

Richard married Carolyn Delong on Oct. 17, 1981, in Las Vegas, Nev., and worked as an oil field tool pusher. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting. He was a “kidder” and enjoyed telling jokes. Richard loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, he especially loved the time he spent with his grandkids. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Richard is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carolyn; daughter, Jennifer Hurlburt of Sawyer; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Arrangements were under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home of Hugo.
