Ruth Ella Scott

Funeral services for Ruth Ella Scott, of Fort Towson, Okla., were held at 10 a.m. Nov. 26, 2021 at Fort Towson Cemetery. Ruth passed away Nov. 21, 2021, at the age of 80.

Ruth Ella Scott was born on Feb. 16, 1941, in Swink, Okla., to Donald Lansing and Anita (Hatcher) Walkup. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Columbus Scott; daughter, Ruby Alford; brothers: Ronald Walkup, Warren Walkup, Fulton Walkup and Herbert Walkup and a grandson.

Ruth lived most of her life in Choctaw County and married Columbus “Boo” Scott on Jan. 26, 1962, in Hugo, Okla. She loved to garden, spending time outdoors, and sewing. Ruth was a sweet lady who loved her family, especially her grandkids. She also loved talking on the phone to Tiffany. Ruth will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ruth is survived by her daughters: Julie Scott of Fort Towson, Charlotte Marie Scott of Fort Towson, Betty Jean Scott of Tucson, Ariz., Clara Sue Morrison of Hugo and Janie Lynn Sells of Fort Towson; brother, Donald Walkup, Jr. of Oklahoma City; sisters: June Huffman of Hugo, Helen Smith of Norman, Okla., and Doris Walkup of Norman; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Jimmy Smith officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
