Memorial services for Sherman Reed will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2022 at the Brookwood Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Okla., with Pastor Bryan Gilbert officiating. Burial will be at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, Okla. Sherman went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022, in Paris, Texas, at the age of 86.

Charley Sherman Reed was born Aug. 17, 1936, to Richard James and Roberta (Hawpe) Reed, in Oklahoma City. He married the love of his life, Betty Sue Smith on Jan. 13, 1975 in Oklahoma City. Sherman grew up in Oklahoma City and lived there until recently moving to Hugo, Okla., to be near family. He served his country in the United States Navy. He worked in construction as a drywall worker. Sherman enjoyed golfing, fishing and was a life long OU Sooners fan.

Sherman was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Roberta Reed; his wife, Betty Sue Reed on Jan. 17, 2022; son, Richard James Reed; sisters: Dorothy Knutsen and Kay Havens; brother, Donald Gene Reed.

Sherman is survived by his sons: Don Reed and wife, Debbie of Oklahoma City and David Reed of Oklahoma City; step-son, Jerry Wilson and wife, Shelly of Hugo; step-daughter, Karen Wilson of Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Evelyn Zahner of Minnesota; grandchildren: Dusty, Kelly, David Paul, Danny, Robert, Chace, Connor and Justice; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
