Body

Shirley Etta Pool, 87 of Rattan, Okla., beloved mother and grandmother, went to her heavenly home on May 11, 2022.

Shirley was born on Nov. 1, 1934, to George and Ada Vera Edwards in Animas, N.M. She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Harland Pool; brothers: Mickey Edwards and Roland Edwards; sisters: Mary, Glada and Vera; son, Craig Bartlett and daughter, Cathy Powell.

Shirley had lived most of her life here in Choctaw County. She was a military spouse and enjoyed spending time at the VFW in Antlers, especially when they would have dances. Shirley was also a member of the Cowboy Crossing Church in Hugo; she loved the Lord and her church family. Shirley enjoyed get togethers with her family and friends, often having ice cream socials and going to the senior building to eat. She was known for her loving demeanor and never meeting a stranger, she gave the very best hugs. Shirley’s greatest joy in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to joke around with them and spent every minute she could with them, they were her biggest blessing. Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Shirley is survived by her sons: Claud Wadkins and wife and Leland Bartlett and wife; daughter, Loretta Estep; many grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, along with a host of other friends, family and loved ones.

Family-led memorial services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
