OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Senate has passed HJR1032, a resolution applying for a national convention to propose term limits on Congress with a vote of 31 yeas and 11 nays. The application is officially heading to Congress to be counted towards the 34 state applications required to call a term limits convention.

to point There’s a very old saying that “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” The computer and Internet Age forced a lot of older Americans to learn some new tricks or fall out of the growing high-tech circle of communications opportunities. I learned some new communications tricks last Friday as I was invited by former Hugoan Bret Packard to be his guest on his growing International Podcast on his own “Packard Network.” After leaving Hugo and graduating as the “Scholar Athlete of the Year” at SOSU in Durant, Bret began an amazing journey in the banking industry that would span more than three decades.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senate Pro Tem Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City, issued the following statement after the Senate voted 45-to-2, overriding Governor Kevin Stitt’s veto of Senate Bill 1130. Senate Bill 1130 essentially prevents the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) from spending $600 million of Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP) money this year.

• Swink Volunteer Fire Department Receives $39,496 grant from the Carolyn Watson Rural Oklahoma Community Foundation The Swink Volunteer Fire Department announced it has received a $39,496 Community Grant from the Carolyn Watson Rural Oklahoma Community Foundation. The grant will be used to fund Project Protection, which will allow the Swink Volunteer Fire Department to purchase new Bunker Gear, Wildlife Gear, AED, and Mobilize Comprehensive Trauma Kit which will enable the Swink Volunteer Fire Department to enhance the quality of life for rural citizens and communities in Oklahoma.
