Ed Ross Ligon passed away peacefully in his home on Dec. 11, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born June 7, 1932, in Comanche, Texas, the son of the Ed Ross, Sr. and Ruth (Bryson) Ligon. After graduating from high school, Ross married his sweetheart, Patsy Karolyn Grey on Nov. 9, 1951 in Comanche, Texas. They soon moved to Fallon, Nev., where Ross worked on a ranch until he was drafted by the U.S. Army. He served two years as a radar opera-tor and then after his discharge he spent one year working for General Motors in Arlington, Texas. He then, along with his father-in-law, Challie Grey, went on a hunt for a ranch in Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. They fell in love with a beautiful place at the foothills of the Ladrone mountain in Magdalena, N.M. Ross put his heart and soul into the ranch and as result won several awards: Salado S.W.C.D. Outstanding Rancher, Bureau of Land Management Riparian Showcase Award and Steward Rancher of The Year.
