Finances, policies, vehicles top CCAA board meeting agenda

Choctaw County Ambulance Authority board members met July 8 and discussed a number of issues –– most pertaining to finances, new policies and vehicle-related matters. During the Operations and Finances portion of the meeting, Director Randy Springfield reported the CCAA had exhausted all of its funding from the federal government’s Paycheck Protection Program.

Boating accident takes lives of two brothers

MARSHALL COUNTY –– Two brothers have passed away after a boating accident Saturday morning on Lake Texoma, between Wood Island and Sanders Island view area. According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Clifford Eugene Hines, 67 from Ponca City, Okla., was operating a 1999 Falcon Striper board when the vessel began to malfunction, turn sharp to the left and eject Hines and two other occupants: Devered (sic) Dee Hines, 80 from Cordell, Okla., and Eddie Wayne Hines, 62 from Duncan, Okla.

HUGO AMERICAN LEGION members were joined in Hugo Tuesday by representatives of DAV, Sons of American Legion and the Women’s American Legion Auxiliary, to celebrate both the 100th birthday of Major Henry Lyles (Ret) as well as his 70 years of membership in the Hugo American Legion Chapter. Pictured with Major Lyles above on this special occasion were: J.K. Smith, Commander, Nathan Pelletier, David Wyrick, Woody Alexander, Dan O’Grady and 3B American Legion District Commander Hayden Woods. Woods made a special presentation to Lyles of his personal military “Challenge Coin” and Woody Alexander also presented Lyles a rare commemorative American Legion Coin to recognize his contribution to the U.S. Military and to his fellow American Legion members.
