Lieutenant Colonel Richard H. Johnston

Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Lieutenant Colonel Richard H. Johnston, retired, passed away July 19, 2022. A memorial service is planned for Oct. 5, 2022 in Hugo, Okla.

He was born in Monet, Mo., on March 28, 1936. Richard attended the University of Missouri, was class president, commander of the ROTC drill team, president of the University Singers and member of Acacia Fraternity. Through his love of musical theatre, he met his wife, Patsy Jo Needham. After graduation, Richard joined the US Army and the two started their life together in Fort Sill, Okla. He later sang tenor in the Green Valley Presbyterian Church choir. He passed just shy of their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Richard is survived by his wife, Patsy; son, David; daughter, Darian and grandson, Elysian.
