Body

Phillip Babb was called home by our Lord Jesus Christ at 11:20 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, at the age of 84.

He is survived by his sister Paula; brother Joe; sons: Steven, Martin and Michael; daughter, Christi; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 2, 2022, at Miramar National Cemetery. Donations and flower arrangements may be sent to the following address: c/o Steven Babb, 9415 Hilmer Dr., La Mesa, CA. 91942.

Born in Grant, Okla., Phillip loved fishing, hunting and playing basketball. He was a great man with a big heart who was loved by many and who was a “true friend,” especially to those who grew up with Phillip.

He was held in high esteem by everyone and was described by his closest friends as an honorable and righteous man.

Phillip joined the Navy in 1958 and served 23 years. He served two tours in Viet Nam, was assigned to the destroyer, DD-745 USS BRUSH, at North Island, adjutant JAG at Naval Training Center, and the Executive Officer for the Drug Rehabilitation Center at NAS Miramar. He received his Juris Doctorate from Western University and practiced law for more than 25 years in San Diego. He also taught law and business courses at National University. Phillip loved to play the guitar and enjoyed country western music, but his real passion was playing golf. He would play every chance he got (four to five times a week) and was a scratch golfer. He played in several Pro-Am tournaments, local amateur tournaments and had quite a collection of golfing trophies.

Phillip will forever be in our hearts and will be missed dearly. We take comfort in knowing that we shall be reunited when the Lord calls us all home.
