HUGO — The Hugo Buffalo basketball program training grounds are alive and well at Hugo Middle School. The junior Buffaloes went 1-2 against the sparky Wright City Lumberjax Monday night, dropping the seventh grade game 22-15; winning the eighth, 30-20, and dropping the ninth-grade contest, 23-28.
Hugo News Sports The Lady Buffs fell to 4A teams Broken Bow and Ada in a tough stretch of games last week. Hugo has long been a fan of scheduling opponents in larger classes to challenge their abilities and better prepare them for state, and this year is no different.
The Fort Towson Tigers claimed a pair of games last week from Soper, with the boys posting a decisive 53-14 win and the Lady Tigers winning, 39-26. Tim Hutchinson led the Tigers with 16, followed by Kaden Wilson 10, Omar Gardner 7, Allen Hutchinson and Konner Johnson 5, Mason Moore 4, and Brady Freeman, Drew Earthman and Deshon Rose each had two.
Hugo News Sports Last week was a rollercoaster for the Buffaloes, who felt the high of beating a higher-ranked opponent in double overtime followed by the low of falling to another by just five points.
Hugo News Sports The Lady Buffs finished the East Central Oklahoma Classic with a win over Ardmore to end the tournament 1-2. Led by senior Ashia Jordan, who scored 14 points, the Buffaloes proved to be too much for Ardmore to handle.
Hugo News Sports The Buffaloes finished fourth in the East Central Oklahoma Classic after falling to Sand Springs, 53-45 Saturday night. In a tournament that boasted 5A and 6A schools, Hugo put on a strong showing in Ada over the weekend.
