to point Publisher More kudos to Choctaw County’s former State Senator George Burns, as the Oklahoma Senate has approved legislation that would return Hugo Lake Park to the Oklahoma state park system. Burns has steadfastly supported this move as our State Senator, even as we have gotten the “cold shoulder” from the Oklahoma Department of Tourism and its board members.

Seems to me like a lot of people are doing a lot of talking about stuff. They talk about wanting something to change. They talk about what they’d like to see done. And then they talk about the stuff they talked about last year.

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) is an authorized quasi state agency. It was created, by statute, in 1947 to construct, maintain, repair and operate turnpike projects authorized by the state legislature and approved by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (DOT). The OTA issues revenue bonds for the purpose of paying costs of constructing the turnpikes. The bonds are paid back solely from the tolls and do not constitute indebtedness to the state. The OTA has been described as similar to a public utility.

to point I’m very pleased with the work I see coming from Oklahoma’s new Second District Congressman, Josh Brecheen. We were among his earliest supporters in a field of at least 13 candidates, many of whom were from larger communities in the district’s northeast regions.
