If so, you probably watched horses and cows grazing in pastures, and likely you have noticed something. These animals do not like to stay where they were placed by their owner.

I’m not sure if it’s something in the water, the coming of Spring, or Presidential politics that is making the natives restless, but we haven’t seen so many citizens in Choctaw County seeking municipal office in quite some time.

It’s crazy to think we’ve made it just about halfway through the legislative session. We’ve passed the deadline to advance bills that originated from our chamber, and we’re now back in committees hearing measures that were approved by the House. We’ll continue committee work until April 8, which is the next legislative deadline we must meet.

Who would challenge the fact that our world today has gotten much smaller than at any time in its history. Not physically smaller, of course, but smaller in the sense that we can communicate and interrelate with people and businesses in other nations around the world in a matter of seconds...

Since we passed the March 11 deadline to advance bills that originated in our chamber, we’re now focusing on reviewing House bills that were approved in their chamber and assigning them to our Senate committees. We sent roughly 450 measures to the House, and they sent approximately 420 to our chamber. We’ll spend the next three weeks hearing these in committee.

Recently we had the opportunity to have lunch with a young, newly married friend whom we haven’t seen in a few months. After the usual banter and light gossip about the lives of mutual friends, we asked about his life now that he had been a husband for a while. His bride, his new house, their plans for the future –– you know the drill.
