ANTLERS — Hugo’s Middle-School Buffaloes extended their unbeaten streak to 12 games last week and while they were at it... they brought back the Championship trophy from the Antlers Bobby Harris Invitational Tournament!

Ten Hugo Buffaloes were named to the 2A-6 All-District football team this week. They include: Offense: Quarterback Landon Lemmons; running back La’Marcus Davis; fullback Aden Parish; wide receiver Ashton Barnett; offensive tackle Noah Joe; center Kameron Allred.

Monday was a learning experience for the Hugo freshmen basketball teams, who both fell to Broken Bow. Coaches Chris Scott and Demontre Akins have a similar outlook on the freshmen teams, which is that they’re all about learning the game and understanding what it takes to play at the high school level.

If there was one thing that was abundantly clear in the opening minutes of Hugo’s game against Durant Monday night, it was that this year’s Buffaloes team plays with unbridled intensity. There’s no easing into the game for them; they’re already full speed ahead when the clock starts.

With 5:28 to go in the fourth quarter, fans from both sides of Hugo’s gym erupted. It was Monday night, Hugo was playing Durant, and the excitement had built to a high point. The Lions were cheering as a three-pointer sailed through the hoop to give their team the lead, while Hugo fans let out loud groans.
