It’s 12:01 a.m. Friday morning, and Hugo is quiet. A few cars drive down Jackson, a lone man walks down the street, but everything else is what you would expect from a small town at this time of day: Silent. There is one exception, though: Gene Nesbit Stadium. The lights are on, high schoolers and parents are trickling into the stands, and the shrill, clear sound of a whistle is cutting through the otherwise muted night.

Chloeaunna Madbull and Sadie Rice combined to pitch a perfect game for Soper as they beat Fort Towson, 12-0. They also combined to strike out every batter that afternoon. Madbull struck out the first six while Rice wrapped things up by striking out the last three batters.
Rattan’s Cale Clay had his stuff working on the hill for the RAMS Friday as he tossed a three-hit shutout against Amber-Pocasset. Clay had excellent control on the hill, facing only 20 batters and having 40 of his 60 pitches called as strikes, fanning three batters and walking two for the RAMs.
HAWORTH — With anticipation high for a big 2021 fall baseball season, the Rattan RAMS overcame an 0-1 first-inning deficit to slam the Haworth Lions Monday with a decisive 10-1 win. Haworth opened the game in the first inning with a one-run lead when Qualls singled on a 3-2 count and scored one run.
TRAINING WITH THE BEST! — Members of the 2021 Hugo Buffaloes continued their summer training journey last week with a surprise appearance by several Guardsmen, at the invitation of Coach Krystopher Gross. The Guardsmen showed the Buffaloes several individual fitness moves to help get them into the best possible physical condition for the upcoming football season.
