HHS CLASS OF ’48 — Charles “Beaver McIntyre” and Mike Hughes were two members of the HHS Class of 1948 who attended Saturday’s Hugo Homecoming. Beaver is always proud to point out that it was the 1948 Buffaloes who made the state playoffs when there were no classes, playing against a massive Oklahoma City team.
OKLAHOMA CITY –– The Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence has announced the recipients of its prestigious 2021 Academic All-State Awards. These 100 top public high school seniors, selected from 379 nominations statewide, hail from 77 schools in 69 Oklahoma school districts. HUGO –– Hugo city council members met in regular session last week, and conducted a public hearing concerning the 2021-2022 budget. Action wasn’t needed regarding the budget.
The PRCA Rodeo Committee announces that the 59th annual Hugo Rodeo Parade will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 4. All area businesses, churches, homecoming classes, clubs and youth groups and individuals are urged to make plans to enter the parade to compete for cash prize money. The theme this year is “Denim & Diamonds.”

• Boone Andrews is the 4-year-old son of Megan and Patrick Andrews of Fort Towson, Okla. His hobbies and favorite sports include ranch rodeo, playing in the mud with cars, going to work cows, mopping the floor and cleaning. Boone participates in the Oklahoma Youth Ranch Rodeo Association. He rides his horse around the ranch with his brothers. He is also learning to rope. Boone loves his horse, Reverend. He loves being funny, being wild and helping his family. He wants to follow in his big brother, Cason’s shoes and spend his years team roping and saddle bronc riding.
