Weather Update

Body
Christmas Eve is looking sunny with high temperatures close to 80 degrees and Christmas day will be sunny and in the mid-70s. Lots of sunshine and warmer temperatures will carry us through the weekend. I am expecting us to start getting much cooler weather around New Year’s Day.

Iris Garden Club has Christmas progressive dinner

Body
The Iris Garden Club of Hugo gathered on Dec. 13 for their annual Christmas celebration. The group met at the Rose Cottage (Jerry and Harolynn Wofford’s) for appetizers and drinks. The porch was decorated with lights, poinsettias and pinecones. The entire house was lit with pink Christmas trees, victorian decorations, Christmas dishes and decor. Appetizers of veggies and dip, cheese ball, assorted crackers, olives, pickles, cheeses, with Coketails and coffee, were served. The meal was serviced on crystal snack trays and antique cups.

Birth of Christ

Body
Throughout the entire expanse of eternity There existed, exists, and will continue to Exist one event that redefined life as it Moves and inhabits an endless universe. This event consumes all time and space, And yet was and is so personal that it pierces The mind, heart, and soul of every person The mind, heart, and soul of every person So blessed to be created by the One and Only So blessed to be created by the One and Only Living God.

Somehow, some way, may this be a Christmas worth remembering

We had difficulties when we were growing up in Martin County, Ken., but overall, we thought we were doing okay. President Lyndon Johnson came to Inez, Ken., in 1964 to let us know we weren’t doing very well. He began his campaign in our community and we became the poster child for American poverty. We hadn’t really thought of ourselves as poor until we started hearing about ourselves in the news.
